Russ Poffenroth

Russ developed his passion for volleyball in high school and continued playing at increasingly competitive levels including club and Provincial teams, university volleyball, and internationally through the National Team Program. His experience as a player helped shape his appreciation for the sport and the importance of strong fundamentals, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Before transitioning his focus to supporting his two sons in their sporting pursuits, Russ coached high school volleyball teams. He remained actively involved in their athletic journeys, volunteering his time and supporting their participation in hockey, soccer, and alpine ski racing.

Russ believed that strong fundamental skills are the building blocks of both enjoyment and success in volleyball. As a coach, he looks forward to helping players develop their technical abilities, build confidence, and grow their understanding of the game. Equally important to Russ is creating a positive learning environment where athletes can challenge themselves, work together, and develop skills and values that will serve them well both on and off the court.
