Dr. A Robinson

Designated Club Chiropractor

Power Health Chinook

Dr. Adam Robinson has been involved in the Strength and Conditioning community in Calgary since 2010, making professional and amateur athletes stronger, faster, and more injury resilient. During his extensive time working with athletes in the gym, he noticed a disconnect between the medical professional-athlete-coach team.

His dedication to human performance brought him to pursue a clinical education so he was able to serve the needs of his patients in all facets of life, no matter what their passions are. While getting his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, he also earned his Masters of Science in Sports Medicine. This led him to gain invaluable experience working in a clinical setting with athletes of all sports.

Dr. Robinson has been trained in Active Release Techniques (ART), instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation, manual joint mobilizations and manipulations. He is also a certified exercise trainer in Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, a technique system originating from Prague utilizing the concepts of developmental kinesiology to reduce dysfunction and improve movement efficiency.

In addition to his clinical acumen, he is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and is still involved in helping athletes reach their athletic potential.

With an elite understanding of biomechanics, and having worked with hundreds of volleyball athletes, from the gym to a clinical setting, Dr. Robinson is highly qualified to manage injuries as they happen, but more importantly to provide the athlete with education and tools on how to prevent them from reoccurring.

Having played high level lacrosse and football, he knows the frustration that comes with being limited due to pain, and will be by your side every step of the way. You will get top quality injury diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation from someone who will always have your long-term best interest in mind.

Sandro Rajic

Recommended Strength & Conditioning Coach

KVK Athletics

Sandro has traveled throughout North America and Europe speaking on the importance of movement proficiency and its influence on sports performance. Sandro works with a diverse clientele base of all ages, backgrounds, genders, and levels of expertise. Sandro has worked with and continues to work with professional athletes in rugby, soccer, dance and figure skating as well as varsity and collegiate level volleyball players. Sandro’s work in the rehabilitation realm ranges from physical to neural dysfunction. His rehabilitation clients include, but are not limited to, ACL and MCL ruptures, knee replacement, herniated and ruptured discs, frozen shoulders, spinal fusions and more.  Sandro has have spent over 10000 hours working with athletes and clients and has mentored young coaches, developed sustainable teams and helped build a company that housed over 500 athletes.

Sandro’s area of expertise has been on the function of the trunk and its inevitable influence on the distal movers. Sandro believes that strength is something that is task specific rather than isolated. Sandro strives to develop, in his athletes, movement mechanics that incorporate the idea of biotensegrity, which allows him to focus on the outcomes of each particular task and each specific individual. He takes these principles and applies them to the weight room, into agility training, acceleration, max velocity, jumping, energy system work, and rehabilitation.

Over the last two years, Sandro has spent his time looking into and developing a program and method of training that would decrease load exerted at the knee, and increase the contribution of the hip musculature. The results of a study Sandro undertook suggested that a specific focus on hip dominant training can significantly increase contribution of the hip and lead to substantial increases in vertical jump height. This increased contribution of the hip can then alleviate the loads exerted at the knee and ankle.
