U13 Jr Aces Black
(Assistant Coach)

Rachel started playing club volleyball at age 13 and fell in love right away. Throughout her club years, she accumulated two provincial championships and the ACE of Heart Award. She played volleyball at Western Canada high school, leading their junior team to the City Finals in 2014.

At age 17, she was discovered by the National Deaf Sports Association, recruited to train with both the Indoor and Beach teams. Rachel is the starting setter for the Indoor team, leading them to a Bronze medal at 2016 Pan Am Games (Washington, DC). She competed at the 2017 Deaflympics (Samson, Turkey) and 2019 Pan Ams (Brasilia, Brasil). This year, she has switched gears with training and will be competing on the Beach team for the 2022 Deaflympics in Caxias do Sol, Brasil (May 1-15).

Rachel then went to University of Victoria where she was a member and then later the president of the UVIC volleyball club. There, she helped coach and be a competitive athlete while she completed her degree (BSc Linguistics, minor Psychology).

Rachel's coaching style focuses on technique and discipline but also loves to implement fun competitive games as she believes that with a strong team culture, athletes can achieve their full potential.
